2 Movies Old, Diljit takes Bollywood by Storm

A highly talented singer blessed with a hypnotic voice, a great actor, a dazzling television presenter and newly turned judge, Diljit Dosanjh is nothing less than an all-rounder. Diljit, recognized as one of the leading singer and actor in Punjabi music and film industry made his presence strongly felt in Bollywood last year and this year with the release of “Udta Punjab” and “Phillauri”.

Early Life and Career

After completing his formal education, Diljit began performing in Kirtans at local Gurudwaras. His first recorded mainstream performance was his solo track “Ishq Da Uda Ada” in the year 2000. He gained popularity with his third album “Smile” with the track “Nach Diyan Alran Kuwariyan” in 2005. From there on, his career gained momentum and there was no looking back for this talented handsome hunk. His collaboration with Miss Pooja and Yo Yo Honey Singh proved to be noticeably profitable for him in the year 2010 and 2011 as he went on to deliver many hits. His collaborations also helped him to gain immense popularity overnight especially among the youth. He ventured into mainstream Punjabi movies as an actor in a lead role with the movie “The Lion of Punjab” in 2011, later that year he starred in “Jinhe Mera Dil Luteya” for which he even bagged a PTC Punjabi Film Award for Best Actor. From there on the talented singer turned actor starred in some record breaking Punjabi hit films like “Jatt and Juliet”, “Punjab 1984”, “Sardaar ji” and some sequels. With some path breaking performances and chartbuster hits there was no looking back for this Punjabi gabru who carved a niche for himself in the Industry.

Bollywood Debut

Diljit with his unmatchable charm was rewarded with immense appreciation and wide acceptance from Bollywood for his Bollywood Debut movie “Udta Punjab” for which he was awarded the Filmfare for the Best Debut role in 2017 for the role of a Punjabi Cop. The multitalented actor made his way to Bollywood and established his roots with his second movie “Phillauri”. Phillauri has proved to be another milestone in his journey as an actor. The movie witnessed Diljit’s impressive acting skills and his fresh splendid chemistry with Anushka Sharma. Made on a budget of 21 crores “Phillauri” has already recovered 12 crores from music and satellite rights.

With the massive success of his movies, the singer turned actor is on a constant high and is all ready for his upcoming release.

Current Projects and Future Plans

Two movie old actor Diljit has signed another Bollywood biggie opposite Anushka Sharma and Arjun Kapoor in the film “Kaneda”. Moving forward to Punjabi Cinema, Diljit will be seen in “Super Singh” next which is all geared up for a June release. He has even signed a deal with Gionne as a Brand Ambassador. At present, the king of the Punjabi music industry is seen as one of the judge in the show “Rising Star” on Colors. Diljit has even lent his voice to a party number titled “Move Your Lakk” which also featuring Badshah for a Sonakshi Sinha starrer movie “Noor”.
