Coronavirus Quarantine: Things To Do While Being At Home

We all are caught up in a hectic whirlwind of activities that start on Monday morning, end on Sunday night and then begin all over again. And, once in our life comes a time when we desire to skip this mundane routine life and take a break. But, with juggling jobs, running the household, chauffeuring our children, our parents and spouses to work, school, colleges, appointments, and commitments, it has always been impossible to take that break. And, now, with the Coronavirus outbreak, most of us have got this opportunity to stay home and utilize this newfound time to do things we always wanted to do but can’t usually squeeze into our day. Trust me you, this is a time when life is going to get simpler. Let's deal with this situation without surrendering to anxiety or boredom and make most of it.

Most of us have never taken our emotional health as seriously as we take our physical health. We hardly get time to take care of ourselves. Reason can be - a busy life schedule, stressful job, or we are too consumed with technology to make time for ourselves. Spend Quality Time With Family

In the hustle and bustle of life, we are so busy chasing our dreams that we struggle to make time for our family. So, why not take advantage of the present situation. Take a pause and enjoy some family time. Cook your favorite meal together, clean the house (may not sound fun, but is surely productive), revamp your house by moving the furniture around, enjoy meals together, talk to each other, play a board game, binge-watch your favorite shows, go through your photos library (full of moments worth remembering) and relive your best memories and many more ways. Remember, spending time with your family is not a chore, it is a privilege. So, spend this time with them and create new memories.

Call friends & Family 

Socialize but only via phone calls and video chatting. Call the people you love and are about but in everyday routine, don’t have time to talk to very much. Whether it be an old friend, a relative, a cousin, a former colleague, a classmate, a college mate or an ex, surprise them with a call. During this outbreak, It is really nice to just have a carefree conversation with a person whom you had not caught up with, in a while. At the same time, it would be great joy in knowing that the person on the other end was probably happy to hear from you too.

No, I have not reached enlightenment or experienced some coveted cathartic state, but I have learned, in most situations how to be more passive and thoughtful as opposed to more aggressive and irrational. Meditation always has immediate benefits. While many people think of meditation as something you might do with a teacher, in a Zen Center, it can be as simple as paying attention to your breath while sitting in your bedroom or balcony. So, when you feel stress, take a minute to pay attention to your breath, and return your mind to the present moment.
