The Oktoberfest dates back to 1810, wherein Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, was married to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on 12 October 1810. The Big Fat German wedding invited citizens of Munich to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event. 

How it evolved as a legendary fest 

The Grand wedding ended with festivities like the horse race, agricultural shows, merry go rounds and various other amusements. Soon the horse races were replaced by beer stalls and so the affection for this fest increased with time as an authentic beer was served in Oktoberfest.
