Places to shop Pearls in Hyderabad:

Koti Sultan Bazaar

1
Koti Sultan Bazaar

Considered as one of the oldest shopping destinations in the city, the market is situated between the commercial extents of Abids and Koti. During the colonization of India, this place was known as the Residency Market. Hence it is almost a couple of centuries-old and is still very famous among the population. Here one can find a wide range of jewellery like earrings, bangles, bracelets, necklaces of various shapes and colors. Though the market is most famous for its silver junk jewellery, here the pearl bangles and small earrings are what one should look for. If you are new to the market and are unaware of their bargaining range, then it is better to take someone along with you, who knows. Worth a visit for a shopping spree. Timings: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Laad Bazaar

2
Laad Bazaar

An equally famous market for all the shopping lovers of Hyderabad, this place is situated at just off the historic Charminar, towards Chowmahalla Palace and close to the Makkah Masjid. An old market, it has been in operation since the time of the QutbShahis. This place is also known as the Choodi Bazaar for its widest array of bangles of all types and colors. The price range starts from as low as Rs. 10 and can rise as high as Rs. 1,00,000 (or above). There are a few well-known pearl outlets here which one must visit. The junk pearl jewellery costs between Rs. 100 – Rs. 500 at ‘Sri Jagadamba Pearls’, at ‘Krishna Pearls’, genuine pearl bangles cost Rs. 500 (starting range). For black and purple pearl earrings with zircon and platinum finish (priced between Rs. 180 and Rs. 250), one can visit a shop called ‘Princess Pearls’. Similar shops are there to look out for where the shopkeepers will tell you the names of different types of bangles and the stories behind it. Timings: 11:00 AM – 11 PM

Basheer Bagh

Basheer Bagh

One of the busiest parts of Hyderabad, this commercial area is situated near other famous commercial places like Abids, Koti, Nampally and Himayat Nagar. This place is flooded with pearl shops of all shapes and sizes. The value differs accordingly as well. There are large showrooms one side of the street as well as wholesalers on the other side. One of the best wholesalers among them (at least, in my opinion) is Meena Jewelers, Babukhan Estate. Here you would find authentic saltwater pearls as well as cultured ones. The typical pearl sets are identified as 'Satlads', which are made of seven strands of pearls and precious stones. Apart from this, you can look for Kundan sets (earrings), rassi, chokers, lachhas, chatai, Tanmani and many more. If you do not mind for a little pocket pinch then you should pay a visit to Mangatrai Pearls, Gems and Jewelers, opposite Liberty Petrol Pump, Liberty Cross Road Basheerbagh, one of the best pearl jewellery shop in the Hyderabad. Timings: 10:00 AM – 10 PM

Nampally

4
Nampally

Located just 1 km away from Basheer Bagh is Nampally, a place most famous for hosting NumaishMasnuaat-e-Mulki or popularly known as ‘Numaish’ – the pan-Indian industrial exhibition held around 1st January to 15th February. This shopping destination has a diverse collection of products to display. Starting from clothes, footwear, bags and wallets, jewellery – you name it, the market has it. The pearl shops are genuine and guarantees not to pinch our pocket at all. A one-stop-shop solution to all your shopping needs. Timings: 9:00 AM – 8:30 PM

Begum Bazaar

5
Begum Bazaar

Truly a bazaar for the Begums! It is the largest commercial market in Hyderabad and one of the oldest too. The market is situated just half a kilometre away from the NayaPul Bridge in the Old City. Though this place is most famous for the brassware, there are a few jewellery wholesale shops containing authentic pearl sets, bangles, and earrings which can take your breath away. But know the prices of these places before you pay a visit otherwise there is always a chance to an item paying double the selling price. A local person would be able to help you with that. Timings: 09:30 AM – 10:00 PM

Pot Market

6
Pot Market

Located in Secunderabad, this market is most famous for their distinct jewellery collections, both genuine/natural and cultured pearls. Many old and famous shops are there where you can go, explore, compare and then purchase. Some of the best shops in this part are: Balaji & Company Wholesale & Retail, Arihant Pearls, Manyang Jewellers, Jagadamba Pearls and Jewellers. The prices of the pearls and pearl jewellery are a bit steeper compared to that of the Charminar Bazaars, but the quality and genuineness of the pearls will compensate that. Apart from its gorgeous jewellery shops, this place is also ideal for clothes street-shopping containing a wide variety of trendy boutiques and emporiums. So, if you are looking for a traditional outfit and jewellery to go along with it, you can try exploring this place. Timings: 09:00 AM – 09:00 PM

Madina Market

7
Madina Market

Another place in close proximity to Charminar, in the old city. The place has come to be known so because of the famous old Madina Hotel Building which was constructed as a place to provide support for the residents of Madina, a holy city in Saudi Arabia. The commercial shops which were built around that area came to be known as the Madina Market. With regards to pearl-shopping, the most famous pearl showroom is the ‘Madina Pearls & Jewellery’, if you are looking for a budget place with great quality this place is ideal for you. The shop offers a wide range of pearl ornaments with regards to the price as well as the quality and authenticity of the pearls. There are other shops as well like ‘Mandothiya Jewellers & Pearls’ which offers great discounts as well. All you should do is talk to the sellers, make them your best friends for those few minutes and you might land up with a hefty discount. Timings: 09:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Moazzam Jahi Market

8
Moazzam Jahi Market

The reason for listing this market, despite being famous for mainly antique items and dry food items from the famous Karachi Bakery is because it houses the small but famous ‘Standard Watch & Electricals, Abids’, where you can find the beautiful pearl watches. A new market when compared to the old markets like Laad Bazaar or Koti Bazaar, but the place itself is mesmerizing. Take a stroll down the lanes of this market, because the architecture resembles a fort. The greatest minaret here is the clock tower which has beautiful carvings and one can see a small resemblance with Mumbai (Gateway of India) when all the pigeons fly away at once. Trust me, it is a sight to behold! Timings: 09:00 AM – 06:30 PM

Pattherghaati

9
Pattherghaati

Last but not the least comes the most famous place for pearls in the entire city of Hyderabad, Pattherghaati road. It is another lane of the Charminar building and beside Madina Market. The entire street is flooded with pearl shops of all shapes, sizes, varieties, and prices (ranging from Rs. 100 to Rs. 10,000). Needless to say, any more about it, if you are out to look for only pearls, go to this street and prepare to be mesmerized. Timings: 10 am to 8:00 pm

So, now you know about the pearl markets in Hyderabad and know where to shop pearls in Hyderabad, happy shopping!!
